It feels the same as the rest of the act. We go to the 'Firebelly Stronghold' and it doesn't feel like a Stronghold. The edges of the Act 1 maps always being littered with cannons, the weird just stuck in shacks, etc. In Tе…ѓ they seem absurdly disconnected from anything around them. What strikes me when playing Diablo 2 or Torchlight 2 is how the outdoor environments despite being randomized have a sense of place.

Outdoor environments lack interest: The outdoor environments feel like a series of boxes out of place from an actual environment. The build train ability should be a default class skill to resolve this and two more carts should be added to the skill tree the Rifle cart, and something else to take the lead cart place. Also, the train REQUIRING you to take the build train skill to use the entire rest of the tree is a huge and obvious design flaw. So the poorly designed mechanic on the Dusk Mage actually further limits build potential from where it would be if they just got rid of it. The need to have both buffs rotating to maintain optimal output means you are constantly having to switch between abilities and since they only fill on damage, this means your main spam ability will have to be a light ability while your light charge (which comes from dark damage?) can easily come from Dark Spears or Entropy in a set and forget kinda way. With the exception of the Dusk Mage whose charge bars are actually very tedious. All of their resource mechanics amount to spam primary abilities and could easily be replaced by mana and cooldowns without an appreciable difference in functionality. They can't even seem to get the poor Tе…ѓ pet to attack mobs consistently.Д¬lass Design is Poor: The classes are interesting concepts on paper but in practice they are not compellingly designed.

One of the devs at Echtra hates the pet mechanic and boy does it show. The Pet Is gutted: The pet is a gutted mechanic completely drained of all its fun, excitement, and utility from TL2. Also, the elite fixes there are are currently missing any audio cues or sound effects so extremely deadly ones like Blazing and Plaguebearer can kill you without you even knowing they went off in the fray. Blazing can only occur in Act 1, Nether Well can only occur on Netherim, etc.) this becomes even more bland. When you add in that the elemental based affixes are restricted by act/monster type (e.g. Too Few Elite Affixes: There are just not enough powers for the elite monsters and since they can each only have one there's only a couple of types of elite packs overall. This has the effect of making it feel like you're just clearing the same room over and over again especially combined with the serious lack of variety of tile sets within the Act. Tе…ѓ Zones feel bland: The TL:F decision to have themed 'Frontiers' where you only fight one type of bad guy and have to contend with one type of damage/armor element means you do not get the same type of variety you find in other ARPGs.

I'm going to leave aside rubberbanding and network issues because there will be single player offline and probably better servers at launch: So here's an ACTUAL thorough analysis of what's wrong with TL:3 right now. Unfortunately, I think they had to spend so much time and effort pivoting from the sea of bad decisions with TL:F that even after all their (quite frankly) herculean efforts turning the ship from the way it was going, they are still left with a game that carries the weight of the parts of those mistakes that could not yet be fixed. Nevertheless, this is why they launched the Alpha so early to get that feedback. But play-testing it should have revealed it wasn't working. I mean, they were doing something very experimental trying to create a different sort of experience. Some of that feedback they probably should have been able to figure out for themselves.

As the team have iterated they've made massive design pivots to try to respond to feedback from myself and others pointing out those issues. I have been playing the game since TL:F Alpha and from the first time I played it there were giant, obvious issues. Having said that: yeah, Echtra have made some huuuuge missteps. All it does is vent that particular user's frustrations at the developers and Fox (who is just trying to help) while weirdly letting the publisher off the hook as a sympathetic character in the Tе…ѓ story? Weak tea. The steam post it has screenshotted is not a 'thorough analysis.' It is pure speculation and ranting from the Steam poster. The title of a popular post on this subreddit is extremely misleading.
